Consumer Price Index in Türkiye, August 2023
A change in general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 9.09%, on December of the previous year by 43.06%, on same month of the previous year by 58.94% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 56.28% in August 2023.

Housing with 24.97% was the main group that indicated the lowest annual increase. On the other hand, hotels, cafes and restaurants with 89.31% was the main group where the highest annual increase realized.

In August 2023, education with 3.11% was the main group that indicated the lowest monthly increase. On the other hand, transportation with 16.61% was the main group where the highest monthly increase realized (indices, weights and rate of changes (%) by main expenditure groups are given in the Table-1).

In August 2023, within indices of 143 basic headings (Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose-COICOP 5 Digit Level) in the index, the index of 1 basic heading decreased and the index of 4 basic headings remained unchanged while the index of 138 basic headings increased.
The indicator for CPI having specified coverage (B) increased by 63.52% annually and 9.32% monthly
A change in CPI excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and gold was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 9.32%, on December of the previous year by 47.21%, on same month of the previous year by 63.52% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 57.77% in August 2023.
