18% value increase in the agricultural sector in 2022

The macroeconomic accounts for agriculture in 2022 confirm the increase in the production value of the agricultural sector and the rise in intermediate consumption. The increases are mainly due to the inflation in 2022. The agricultural sector value has increased by 18.0% compared to 2021.

The crops that saw their value increase were industrial plants (+32.7%), cereals (+21.0%) and potatoes (+15.2%), while horticultural products decreased (-6.9% for vegetables and -3.8% for fruit).

The value of animal production is up by 34%. The costs incurred have risen by the same order of magnitude as sales proceeds, i.e. by 18.8% between 2021 and 2022. Rising energy and fertiliser prices are the main reasons for this.
