Monthly trend in turnover for the Market Services Sector in Spain

After adjusting for seasonal and calendar effects, the monthly variation of the general index of turnover for the Market Services Sector between March and February was −3.3%. This rate is 9.2 points lower than that observed in February.

After adjusting for seasonal and calendar effects, Trade decreased by 3.9% while Other services increased by 0.6%.

By sectors, Administrative and support service activities (3.1%), Information and communications (1.4%) and Accommodation (0.7%) registered the largest increases. In turn, Sale and repair of vehicles and motorcycles (−12.7%) and Wholesale trade and trade intermediaries (−4.5%) recorded the largest decreases.

Annual trend in the turnover indices for the Market Services Sector

The general index of the turnover for the Market Services Sector, after adjusting for seasonal and calendar effects, experienced a variation of 17.5% in March compared to the same month of 2021. This rate is 6.1 points lower than that recorded in February.

The original series presented an annual variation of 18.2%, which is 5.3 points below that registered in February.

Employment trend

Employment in the Market Services Sector experienced a variation of 4.8% in March as compared to the same month of the previous year. This rate is four tenths higher than that registered in February.

The employment rate increased by 1.9% in Trade and by 6.7% in Other services.
