STEEL PRODUCTION IN TÜRKİYE
Türkiye’s crude steel production in April 2023 decreased by 20.6% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 2.7 million tons.
In the January-April period, production decreased by 21.3% to 10.1 million tons.
STEEL CONSUMPTION
Final product consumption was 3.5 million tons in April with an increase of 16.2% compared to the same month of 2022, and 12.5 million tons with an increase of 7.9% in the January-April period.
FOREIGN TRADE
Export
In April, exports of steel products amounted to 629.9 thousand tons with a decrease of 55.2% in terms of quantity and $566.4 million with a decrease of 59.9% in terms of value.
In the January-April period, compared to the same period of 2022, exports amounted to 2.8 million tons with a 50.1% decrease in quantity and 2.5 billion dollars with a 53.8% decrease in value.
Imports
Compared to the same month of 2022, imports in April 2023 amounted to 1.7 million tons with an increase of 30.4% in terms of quantity, and 1.4 billion dollars with a decrease of 0.2% in terms of value.
In the January-April period, compared to the same period of 2022, imports amounted to 5.9 million tons with an increase of 11.9% in quantity and 4.9 billion dollars with a decrease of 12.6% in value.
Foreign Trade Balance
The ratio of exports to imports, which was 94.3% in the first 4 months of 2022, decreased to 49.8% in the first 4 months of 2023.
