Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), stated that due to the low exchange rate policy being implemented in addition to the high rate of increase in production and logistics costs, the competitive opportunities of the exporters have come to the point of extinction and that the inflationary pressures in foreign markets have caused the exporters to face a very difficult situation with the addition of the contractionary effect of inflationary pressures on consumer demands, and that the exporters should be urgently supported in terms of access to appropriate financing opportunities in order not to waste our gains from the past and to protect our traditional export markets. Mr. Kalyoncu stated that there should be an exchange rate at least at the rate of inflation increase for exporters whose competitiveness is lost under cost pressure due to the fact that cost increases have exceeded exchange rates, and that export declines have started to be experienced in many sectors due to cost and exchange rate pressure.
Stating that it is of great urgency to compensate the losses of the exporter with alternative support instruments in order to compensate for the losses caused by the exchange rate, because the exporter has no more endurance power, DKİB Chairman Kalyoncu demanded that the exporter be given morale with a brand new export support model after the completion of the election atmosphere in order to reach the targeted export figures and to carry our exports to a sustainable dimension.
