The Ministry of Commerce of the Republic of Türkiye prepared the electronic trade statistics report for the 6-month period of this year with the data of the Electronic Trade Information System (ETBIS).

In the January-June period, Türkiye’s e-commerce volume increased by 116 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 348 billion liras.

In the first half of this year, orders rose 38 percent from 1 billion 654 million to 2 billion 294 million units.

While the ratio of e-commerce to general trade in the first 6 months of last year was 17.6 percent, this ratio increased to 18.5 percent in the same period of this year.

E-commerce expenditure per capita in Türkiye, in the first half of the year, was 4 thousand 964 liras when compared to the population aged 18-70. In the same period, e-commerce expenditure per capita in Istanbul was recorded as 9 thousand 857 liras, in Ankara 6 thousand 64 liras and in İzmir 5 thousand 230 liras.

According to the payment methods, 32 percent of the e-commerce volume was money transfer/EFT payments with 113 billion liras, 2 percent of it was 7.7 billion liras at the door, 66 percent of it was card transactions with 228 billion liras.

In Türkiye, there are 488 thousand 706 businesses registered to ETBIS and engaged in e-commerce activities in the marketplaces. 29,287 of these enterprises operated as enterprises registered with ETBIS. 472 thousand 840 of them operate in e-commerce marketplaces. In addition, the number of sites registered to ETBIS reached 34 thousand 931. While 13 thousand 421 businesses are engaged in e-commerce activities on their own site, they also sell in e-commerce marketplaces.
