STEEL PRODUCTION IN TÜRKİYE
Turkey’s crude steel production in February 2023 decreased by 28.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and became 2.1 million tons.
In the first 2 months of the year, production decreased by 23.1% and amounted to 4.7 million tons.
STEEL CONSUMPTION
Final product consumption was 2.5 million tons in February with a 12% decrease compared to the same month of 2022, and 5.5 million tons with a 7.7% decrease in the first 2 months of the year.
FOREIGN TRADE
Export
In February, exports of steel products amounted to 675 thousand tons with a decrease of 47.3% in terms of quantity and 582 million dollars with a decrease of 50.5% in terms of value.
In the January-February period, compared to the same period of 2022, exports amounted to 1.4 million tons with a decrease of 44.9% in quantity, and 1.2 billion dollars with a decrease of 49.5% in value.
Imports
In February 2023, imports amounted to 1.3 million tons with a decrease of 10.7% in terms of quantity and 1 billion dollars with a decrease of 32% in terms of value compared to the same month of 2022.
In the January-February period, compared to the same period of 2022, imports amounted to 2.5 million tons with a 10% decrease in quantity and 2.1 billion dollars with a 27% decrease in value.
Foreign Trade Balance
The ratio of exports to imports, which was 80.1% in the January-February period of 2022, decreased to 55.3% in January-February 2023.
