Between September 1, 2021 and May 31, 2022, covering the 9-month period of Türkiye’s 2021/2022 hazelnut export season, hazelnuts amounting to 1 billion 700 million 495 thousand 560 dollars were exported in exchange for 287 thousand 934 tons. Compared to the same period of the previous season, exports increased by 25% in quantity and 6% in value.

Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee, made evaluations on the subject; He stated that hazelnut exports to 123 countries were realized in the 9-month period of the 2021/2022 season and that compared to the previous season, there was an increase of 25 percent in quantity and 6 percent in value in exports. Cirav, mentioning that nearly 50 percent of hazelnut exports are made to Germany and Italy, stated that Europe is the biggest buyer in hazelnut exports, as it always is.

In the 2021/2022 period, 536 million 947 thousand 539 dollars hazelnut exports were carried out from Trabzon, which is the center of hazelnut exports, to 61 countries, corresponding to 97 thousand 773 tons, and 32 percent of the total hazelnut exports were realized from the province of Trabzon.
