According to the nation’s statistical agency, Slovenia’s consumer confidence indicator declined by 1 percentage point (pp) on a monthly comparative basis in August following a 1 pp improvement the month before.

August’s consumer confidence increased by 5 percentage points on an annual basis, according to a statistical office statement that was made public on its website.

The monthly decline was caused by consumers’ growing pessimism over the nation’s economy, which fell by 3 percentage points, and household finances, which fell by 2 percentage points. However, anticipation for large purchases increased by 1%, while perceptions of the financial situation of current households did not change from the previous month.

The confidence indicator’s annual increase was mostly caused by consumers’ increased optimism towards their family finances (up 9 percentage points), the nation’s economy (up 5 percentage points), and large purchases (up 5 percentage points). Consumer perceptions of the financial situation of modern households were at August 2022 levels.
