According to preliminary figures released by the Ministry of Manpower, Singapore’s jobless rate rose even further in the three months that concluded in September.

From 1.9 percent in the second quarter to 2.0 percent in the third, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased little. The rate was 1.8% in the first quarter of 2023.

In comparison to the previous quarter, total employment increased by 24,000 in the third quarter, marking the eighth consecutive quarter of growth, excluding migrant domestic workers. Growth in employment was contributed by both residents and non-residents.

For the second consecutive month, the national jobless rate in September stayed at 2.0 percent.
