Services turnover adjusted for working day effects fell by 6.1% in May 2023 compared to the same month last year. This decline is due in particular to trends in commodity trading. These are provisional findings from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
The economic sector ”Wholesale and retail trade“ recorded a decline in turnover of 11.1% in May compared with the same month of the previous year and the economic sector ”Transportation and storage“ also reduced its turnover (–6.4%). In the economic sector ”Accommodation and food service activities“ (+4.8%), the figures went up in May 2023 compared with May 2022 and the ”Information and communication“ segment also reported a positive result (+3.8%). The economic sector ”Real estate activities“ (+12.2%) as well as the sector ”Professional, scientific and technical activities“ (+9.6%) showed increasing turnover figures. Finally, the turnover of the economic section ”Administrative and support service activities“ grew (+2.4%), with the sector “Travel agency, tour operator reservation service and related activities” (+40.9%) standing out with a high increase, as in the previous months.
