According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, industrial production decreased in August while consumer price inflation in Romania increased to a 19-year high in September.
After increasing by 15.3 percent in August, consumer prices increased by 15.9 percent year over year in September.
The inflation rate was also the highest since September 2003, when prices increased by the same 15.9 percent.
In September, prices for food items increased 19.1 percent annually, while 16.6 percent more people paid for non-food items.
Services cost 8.0% higher this year than they did the previous.
Consumer prices increased by 1.3 percent on a monthly basis in September.
