Romania’s trade deficit widened to EUR 2.82 billion in April 2022 from EUR 1.74 billion in the same month the previous year. This was the largest trade gap on record, as exports grew by 10.4 percent year-on-year to EUR 6.89 billion, while imports rose at a faster 21.8 percent to EUR 9.71 billion. Considering the first four months of the year, the trade shortfall increased to EUR 10.01 billion from EUR 7.07 billion in the same period of 2021.
