The data used to create the TOBB (The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye) Industry Database, which contains the industrial capacity reports created by TOBB-affiliated Chambers and approved by TOBB and includes the machinery park, production, raw material, and contact details for 90,000 manufacturers, is what makes up the Leaders of Industry Program in Türkiye. The first three are determined based on the manufacturing capacity for more than 4,000 goods.

As a result of this calculation, the first, second and third provinces on a sectoral and national basis and the products whose production capacity increased, decreased and remained unchanged compared to the previous year are determined.

Due to work done this year for the first time, 2,463 out of 4,000 products will have higher manufacturing capacity in 2021 compared to 2020. This led to the conclusion that, of all the items having production capacity in Türkiye in 2021, 62 percent saw an increase in production capacity, 28 percent saw a decline, and 10 percent saw no change. Additionally, when sectors are examined, NACE 28: Manufacturing of Machinery and Equipment, NACE 20: Manufacturing of Chemical Items, and NACE 10: Manufacturing of Food Products, are the sectors with the greatest number of products with improved production capacity.

Istanbul was one of the top three provinces when the Industry Leaders Program looked at the provinces, with a production capacity in each of 1,809 products. Zmir came in second with 1,28 products, while Kocaeli came in third with 772 products. Istanbul is believed to lead numerous industries, including those related to textiles, ready-made apparel, leather, chemicals, plastics, and computers. In contrast, zmir leads the food, tobacco, and refined petroleum industries, and Kocaeli leads the production of basic metals and motor vehicles.
