In 2023, the adoption of e-business applications varied among enterprise size classes in the EU. E-business applications are used to manage the enterprise resources (enterprise resource planning – ERP), information about customers (customer relationship management – CRM) or to analyse data (business intelligence software – BI).

There was a significant gap between small and large enterprises, which was reportedly larger for those using ERP or BI software than for those using CRM applications.

The percentage of enterprises with ERP ranged from 38% for small enterprises to 86% for large enterprises (48 percentage points (pp) difference), and from 11% to 63% (52 pp difference) respectively for those using BI software and from 22% to 61% (38 pp difference) for the enterprises using CRM software.
