The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has released the Producer Price Index (PPI) for the first quarter (Q1) 2023.

The total producer price index in Kosovo increased by 3.2% between Q1 2023 and Q4 2022.

Larger increases according to branches of economic activities are observed in: metal ore extraction (15.0%); manufacture of paper and articles thereof (11.6%); processing of food products (7.9%); manufacture of machinery and equipment p.c.t. (7.1%); production of beverages (6.8%); manufacture of chemical products (6.0%); manufacture of motor vehicles (transport), trailers and semi-trailers (4.6%); water collection, treatment and supply (4.6%); production of non-metallic mineral products (4.2%); production of rubber and plastic products (3.3%); ores and other quarries (3.2%); manufacture of electrical equipment (2.4%); manufacture of wood and cork products, except furniture: manufacture of straw articles and interwoven materials – knitting (1.8%); manufacture of furniture (0.8%); and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (0.6%).

The increase was counteracted by the decrease in prices in: manufacturing of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (-2.4%); manufacture of leather products and articles thereof (-1.4%); and manufacture of metal (-0.7%).

The largest decreases according to branches of economic activities are observed in: electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-14.8%); manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (-3.1%); manufacture of metal (-2.5%); manufacture of leather products and articles thereof (-0.6%); and manufacture of furniture (-0.3%).

The decrease was counteracted by the increase in prices for: manufacture of paper and articles thereof (24.5%); other ores and quarries (20.9%); production of beverages (9.6%); manufacture of chemical products (9.6%); processing of food products (9.1%); metal ore extraction (8.4%); manufacture of non-metallic mineral products (5.8%); manufacture of machinery and equipment p.c.t. (5.8%); manufacture of wood and cork products, except furniture: manufacture of straw articles and interwoven materials – knitting (4.6%); water collection, treatment and supply (4.6%); manufacture of motor vehicles (transport), trailers and semi-trailers (2.7%); and manufacture of electrical equipment (1.2%).
