Department of Statistics: The Industrial Production Index in Jordan Increased by 3.32% in May 2024

The Department of Statistics issued its monthly report on the Industrial Production Index which recorded an increase by 3.32% for May 2024 compared to the previous month of April 2024,
and a decrease by (2.68%) compared to the same month (May) 2023. On the accumulative level, the Industrial Production Index for the first five months of 2024 has increased by 0.44%
compared to the same period in 2023, noting that the base year has been modified to become (2018=100) instead of (2010=100).

Accordingly, the Industrial Production Index for May 2024 has reached 86.13 percentage points against 84.40 compared to the previous month of April 2024. the Industrial Production Index of
May 2024 has reached 87.20 against 89.61 for the same month in 2023. At the accumulative level for the first five months of 2024, the Industrial Production Index has reached 85.50
compared to 85.12 for the same period in 2023.

On a monthly basis, the Industrial Production Index for May 2024 has Increased compared to the previous month of April as a result of the Increase of the production quantities of
“Manufacturing Industries” by 3.39% with a relative importance of 88.7% and the production quantities of “Electricity” by 7.13% with a relative importance of 5.9%, while there was a
decrease in the production quantities of “Quarrying Industries” by (1.68%) with a relative importance of 5.4%.

At the sectoral level, comparing the index for May 2024 with the same month in 2023, the production quantities of the “Manufacturing Industries” sector decreased by (3.01%) with a relative importance of 88.7%. The production quantities of the “Quarrying Industries” sector also decreased by (5.55%) with a relative importance of 5.4%. Meanwhile, the production quantities of the “Electricity” sector increased by 5.29%, with a relative importance of 5.9%. Comparing the accumulative index for the first five months of 2024 with the same period of 2023, the production quantities of “Quarrying Industries” have increased by 0.14% with a relative importance of 5.4% and “Electricity” by 3.57% with a relative importance of 5.9%, while there was a decrease in the production quantities of “Manufacturing Industries” by (0.17%) with a relative importance of 88.7%.
