Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) Published September 2024 Report on Global Manufacturing PMI Developments

Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) published the September 2024 report on Global Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) developments around the world. Global PMI, which was 49.6 in August, reached 48.8 in September, the lowest value of the last 11 months. Global manufacturing industry production declined in September after a flat course in August. While the production of investment (capital) goods and intermediate goods declined, there was a very limited increase in the production of consumer goods and new orders, including exports, decreased across the sector. Global manufacturing employment fell for the second consecutive month in September. The sector’s expectations for the future also signaled the weakest optimism in the last 22 months, while input costs and final product price increases slowed down.

Among the 32 national economies for which the manufacturing PMI was released, the number of those whose operating conditions deteriorated rose from 18 in August to 22 in September. On the other hand, 6 out of 10 economies in the growth zone lost momentum compared to the previous month.
