In October 2023 in Istanbul, the Istanbul Wage Earners’ Living Index, which is an indicator of retail price movements, increased by 3.69% compared to the previous month, while the Wholesale Price Index, which reflects wholesale price movements, increased by 3.53%. In October 2023, the rate of change compared to the same month of the previous year, which shows the price changes in October 2023 compared to October 2022, was realized as 72.73% in the 1995-based Wage Earners’ Livelihood Index of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) and 64.04% in the Wholesale Price Index.
In October 2023, retail prices increased by 15.33 percent in Clothing, 4.58 percent in Health and Personal Care, 4.28 percent in Food, 4.05 percent in Household Goods, 1.82 percent in Housing, 0.08 percent in Other, -1.38 percent in Culture, Education and Entertainment and -2.33 percent in Transportation and Communication.
