In 2020–2022, 55% of enterprises registered in Slovenia had innovation activity. At least one business process innovation was introduced by 41% of enterprises and at least one product innovation by 37% of enterprises.
Compared to the 2018–2020 period, enterprises introduced slightly more product innovations (by +1%) and fewer business process innovations (by −2%). Large enterprises introduced a similar number of product innovations (by +0.3% more) and fewer business process innovations (by −6%). Fewer business process innovations were also introduced by small and medium-sized enterprises (together by −2%), but they introduced more product innovations (together by 1%).
Enterprises in manufacturing co-operated on R&D or other innovation activities with others more than enterprises in the service sector
15% of innovation active enterprises co-operated with other enterprises or organisations on R&D or other innovation activities: among enterprises in manufacturing 17% and among enterprises in selected services 12%.
Compared to the previous observed period, enterprises in manufacturing co-operated less with other enterprises or organisations on R&D or other innovation activities (by −1%) and enterprises in selected services more (by 1%).
The share of innovative enterprises in manufacturing slightly higher than in the service sector
The share of innovation active enterprises was still higher among enterprises in manufacturing than among enterprises in selected services. 57% of enterprises registered in manufacturing were innovation active (40% introduced at least one product innovation and 41% at least one business process innovation). Among enterprises registered in the service sector, 54% were innovation active (35% introduced at least one product innovation and 41% at least one business process innovation).
