National Bureau of Statistics reports that:
  • in May 2023 compared to May 2022 industrial production (gross series) decreased by 7,4% in Moldova;
  • cumulative, beginning this year (January-May 2023) compared to the same period of the previous year, industrial production (gross series) decreased by 6,4%.

The decrease in production (gross series) in May 2023 compared to May 2022 (by 7,4%) was caused by decreases in manufacturing (-9,7%), generating decreases in total industry production by 8,6% respectively.  At the same time, there were increases in extractive industry (+10,6%) and in production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+11,3%) attenuating the decrease in total industry by 0,3% and 1,0% respectively.
