Employers will be able to pay their employees more in travel expenses without having to pay more tax next year. The maximum travel expense rate will increase from 19 cents to 21 cents per kilometre in 2023, and then to 23 cents in 2024. Since 2006, the tax-free mileage rate has remained at 19 cents per kilometre. The details are still being finalized, but they will be released in September along with the rest of the 2023 expenditure plans.

In March, MPs advocated for an increase in travel expenditures due to rising gasoline prices. The administration has already decreased the petrol tax until at least the end of the year.
