On February 2024, the value of exports was ALL 32 billion, decreasing by 16.1% compared with the same period of the previous year and decreasing by 7.9% compared with January 2024. The value of imports was ALL 74 billion, increasing by 6.4% compared with the same period of the previous year and by 22.8% compared with January 2024. This month, the trade deficit is ALL 42 billion, increasing by 34.0% compared with February 2023 and by 37.3% compared with January 2024.
In the first two months of 2024, the value of exports was ALL 62 billion, decreasing by 23.0% compared with the previous year, and the value of imports was ALL 134 billion, increasing by 5.0% compared with the previous year. The trade deficit was ALL 72 billion, increasing by 52.6% compared with the same period of 2023.
The influence of the main groups in the annual change in exports:
In the annual decrease of exports by 16.1% this month, a negative contribution was given by the groups: “Mineral, fuels, electricity” with -7.7 percentage points, “Textile and footwear” with -4.5 percentage points, and “Construction materials and metals” with -2.3 percentage points. While a positive contribution was given by the groups: “Chemical and plastical products” with 0.4 percentage points and “Food, beverages, tobacco” with 0.1 percentage point.
Exports during the two months of 2023 decreased by 23.0% compared with the same period of the previous year. The main groups that influenced more in the annual decrease of exports are: “Mineral, fuels, electricity” with -13.9 percentage points, “Textile and footwear” with -4.8 percentage points, and “Construction materials and metals” with -3.1 percentage points. While a positive contribution was given by the groups: “Chemical and plastical products” with 0.4 percentage points and “Food, beverages, tobacco” with 0.1 percentage point.
The influence of the main groups in the annual change in imports:
In the annual increase of imports by 6.4%, this month has mainly affected the groups: “Machinery, equipment, and spare parts” with +7.4 percentage points, “Food, beverages, tobacco” with +1.6 percentage points, “Chemical and plastical products” with +0.8 percentage point. While a negative contribution was given by the groups: “Textile and footwear” with -1.9 percentage points, “Mineral, fuels, electricity” with -1.2 percentage points, and “Construction materials and metals” with -0.5 percentage points.
