Startups Watch produced a thorough analysis on the local gaming industry in partnership with the Turkish government’s Invest in Türkiye division. The State of Turkish Gaming Ecosystem research delves deeply into the history of gaming in the nation and examines how current industry successes are influencing the future of the sector.
The study examines how Turkey became the biggest video gaming hub in Europe this year from being a country where the video game industry was not even recognized as an economic sector a little over ten years ago. The country is home to approximately 522 gaming businesses, 10 gaming incubators, 13 gaming accelerators, and a gaming cluster, according to the Gaming Snapshot for Türkiye v1.2 Infographic.
The Turkish gaming industry has experienced two unicorns in the past four years: Dream Games, the quickest unicorn in Türkiye, and Peak Games, which Zynga purchased. Based on a number of reports submitted by professionals in the gaming business, the research ranks Turkey as having the second-largest gaming ecosystem, only behind the United Kingdom. The nation has the potential to develop into the greatest gaming ecosystem in the coming years, taking into account the growth rate, potential, and untapped talent pool.
