China’s online retail market continues to lead globally, with a 7.2 percent growth in retail sales in 2024, marking the 12th consecutive year that the country holds the title of the world’s largest e-commerce market.

At a national e-commerce conference held in Beijing from Monday to Tuesday, officials reviewed the progress made in 2024, analyzed the development trends, and outlined priorities for 2025.

The conference emphasized significant achievements in digital transformation and high-quality development of e-commerce across various sectors of the economy.

Other highlights included industrial e-commerce integration, silk road e-commerce cooperation, and action plans on digital commerce.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Commerce called for a focused effort to expand digital consumption, support industrial transformation, and promote high-quality international e-commerce cooperation, with an emphasis on strengthening digital governance and contributing to the high-quality development of the economy.
