Crop Production, 2019 in Turkey
Crop production increased when compared with previous year
Increase was occured in the production of cereals and other crops, vegetables and fruits in 2019 with rates of 1.4%, 3.5% and 0.3% when compared with the previous year. Production quantities of cereals and other crops, vegetables and fruits, beverages and spices crops in 2019 became as follows; 63.8 million tonnes for cereals and other crops, 31.1 million tonnes for vegetables and 22.3 million tonnes for fruits.

Cereals production decreased in 2019 when compared with the previous year
Cereals production decreased in 2019 with a rate of 0.02% when compared with the previous year and approximately became 34.4 million tonnes.
Wheat production decreased by 5% to become 19 million tonnes, barley production increased by 8.6% and became 7.6 million tonnes, rye production decreased by 3.1% and became 310 thousand tonnes, oats production increased by 1.9% and became 265 thousand tonnes, when compared with the previous year.
In the pulses group, a decrease occured in broad beans to consume by 7.1% and production approximately became 5.5 thousand tonnes, green lentil increased by 1.5% and became 43.6 thousand tonnes and potatoes, one of tuber crops, increased by 9.4% and approximately became 5 million tonnes.
In the group of oil seeds, soybean production increased by 7.1% and became 150 thousand tonnes.
Tobacco production decreased by 7% and become 70 thousand tonnes, sugar beets production increased by 3.7% and became 18.1 million tonnes.
Vegetables production increased in 2019 compared with the previous year
Vegetables production in 2019 became 31.1 million tonnes with increasing rate of 3.5% when compared with the previous year.
When examining production of subgroups of vegetables, root and tuberous vegetables production increased by 8.4%, production of vegetables cultivated for their fruits increased by 2.7% and other vegetables not elsewhere classified increased with the rate of 5.5%.
The production of some important crops in vegetables; increments became in tomatoes by 5.7%, in dry onion by 13.9%, in cucumber by 3.7% while decrements became as 4% in watermelon, 3% in green pepper, 1.6% in eggplant.
Fruit production increased in 2019 when compared with the previous year
Fruits, beverages and spices crops production became 22.3 million tonnes in 2019 increasing by 0.3% when compared with the previous year.
When examining productions of some important fruits, there was increase in apricot production by 12.9%, in pomegranates production by 4%, in strawberries production by 10.4% while there was decrease in apple production by 0.2% and in lemon production by 13.6% when compared with the previous year.
In the citrus group, decrement became in mandarin production by 15.2%. From nuts, walnuts production increased by 4.7%.
Bananas production increased by 9.9% while oranges production decreased by 10.5%.
Ornamental plants production increased in 2019 when compared with the previous year
Ornamental plants production increased by 0.4% in 2019 when compared to the previous year.
When the shares of flowers in the total ornamental plant production are examined, it was seen that total cut flowers had a share of 63.6% and other ornamental plants had a share of 36.4%.
Cut flowers and outdoor ornamental plants productions increased by 3.6%, 0.7% respectively while indoor ornamental plants decreased by 14.1% when compared to the previous year.
