Bulgaria is preparing to join the Eurozone by January 1, 2025, according to discussions held by the Minister of Finance Rositsa Velkova with the President of the Eurogroup Pascal Donahue and the European Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis during the ECOFIN meeting on April 27-28, 2023. The Ministry of Finance has stated that the issue of postponing Bulgaria’s adoption of the euro was not raised during the discussions. The Ministry of Finance has also called for accurate reporting on the country’s progress towards Eurozone membership and for media outlets to avoid spreading fake news.
The Ministry of Finance considers it unacceptable to spread fake news and contradictory messages in the media, especially those with a good reputation in the public space.
