As at 1 January 2023, 263 thsd individual entrepreneurs and 113 thsd small and medium business organisations, of which 100 thsd micro-organisations (88% of the total number of small and medium business organisations), 11 thsd small organisations (10%) and 2 thsd medium-sized organisations (2%), carried out economic activity in the Republic of Belarus.
The predominant economic activities in the small and medium business sector in 2022 were as follows:
Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (34% of the total number of small and medium business organisations and individual entrepreneurs);
Transportation, storage, postal and courier activities (13%);
Professional, scientific and technical activities (9%);
Industry (8%);
Construction (8%).
The revenue from sales of products, goods, works and services of small and medium business entities in 2022 was BYN 205 bn, which was 41.7% of the total country’s revenue.
The contribution of the small and medium business entities in the GDP for 2022 was 25.7%, of which 15.4% by micro and small organisations, 7.7% by medium-sized organisations and 2.6% by individual entrepreneurs.
