Turnover of industry and services in Italy – August 2024
In August, estimates for seasonally adjusted turnover index decreased by 0.1% in value (-0.7% in volume) in the month on month series (-0.5% in value and -0.7% in volume in the domestic market and +0.4% in value and -0.8% in volume in the non domestic one).
In August, estimates for seasonally adjusted turnover index for Total services decreased in the month on month series by 2.0% for both value and volume indicators. The wholesale trade sector contracted by 2.6 in value and by 2.5 in volume, likewise the other services fell by 1.3% in value and 1.9% in volume.
Over the three-month period ending in August 2024, the seasonally adjusted industry turnover dropped both in value and volume (-1.2% and -1.4% respectively) when compared with the previous three months. In the same period, the services turnover decreased in value by 0.1% and by 0.7% in volume, too.
On a year-on-year basis, in August 2024, the calendar adjusted industry turnover index contracted in both value (-4.6%) and volume (-3.6%), registering a 5.0% decrease in the domestic market (-4.2% in volume) and a 3.8% decrease (-2.6% in volume) in the non-domestic market. Calendar working days in August 2024 were 21 versus 22 days in August 2023.
In services, when compared with the same month a year earlier, turnover decreased by 2.0% in value and 4.0% in volume. The turnover index decreased decreased by 4.2% (-3.7% in volume) in the wholesale trade, while increasing by 0.3% in other services (-4.0% in volume).
