In 2023, there were 2 307.1 thousand non-financial enterprises in Poland, of which 2 240.1 thousand were microenterprises in Poland. With regard to the type of business activity conducted, trade enterprises remained the largest group in population of non-financial enterprises (19.4% of total); and in terms of location – entities based in the Mazowieckie Voivodship (18.7% of total).
In 2023, the number of non-financial enterprises decreased by 1.8% compared to the previous year. The impact on this change had mainly micro units (entities with up to 9 persons employed). They constituted 97.1% of the entire population of non-financial enterprises and their number decreased by 1.9% compared to 2022. The percentage of small (with a number of persons employed from 10 to 49), medium (with a number of persons employed from 50 to 249) and large units (with 250 or more persons employed) in 2023 amounted to 2.1%, 0.6% and 0.2% of all non-financial enterprises, respectively. In comparison with the previous year, the number of enterprises in these classes increased by 1.1%, 0.4% and 0.6%, respectively. Compared with 2010, the total number of non-financial enterprises increased by 33.6%.
