In June 2024, compared with May 2024, seasonally adjusted services production decreased by 0.8% in the euro area and by 0.9% in the EU, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In May 2024, services production fell by 0.1% in the euro area and grew by 0.2% in the EU.

In June 2024, compared with June 2023, services production increased by 1.2% the euro area and by 1.0% in the EU.

In the euro area in June 2024, compared with May 2024, services production

  • decreased for transportation and storage by 0.4%,

  • increased for accommodation and food services by 1.9%,

  • decreased for information and communication by 1.6%,

  • increased for real estate activities by 0.3%,

  • decreased for professional, scientific, and technical activities by 0.5%,

  • decreased for administrative and support services by 1.7%.

In the EU, services production

  • decreased for transportation and storage by 0.4%,

  • increased for accommodation and food services by 1.5%,

  • decreased for information and communication by 1.6%,

  • decreased for real estate activities by 0.3%,

  • decreased for professional, scientific, and technical activities by 0.6%,

  • decreased for administrative and support services by 1.6%.

Among Member States for which data are available, the largest monthly decreases were recorded in Romania (-15.2%), Slovenia (-3.6%) and Greece (-3.1%). The highest increases were observed in Malta (+1.9%), Slovakia (+1.6%) and Lithuania (+1.2%).

Among Member States for which data are available, the highest annual increases were recorded in Malta (+20.5%), Lithuania (+8.6%) and Luxembourg (+6.5%). The largest decreases were observed in Greece (-6.7%), Romania (-6.6%) and Denmark (-4.9%).
