Switzerland’s producer prices and import prices fell 1.8 percent year-on-year in May 2024, the same pace as in the previous month. It marked the third consecutive period of decline, driven by sustained decreases in producer prices (-1.3% vs -0.4% in April) and import costs (-2.9% vs -4.6%). On a monthly basis, producer and import prices dropped 0.3 percent, the first fall in four periods, following a 0.6 percent rise in April and compared to forecasts of a 0.5 percent growth, primarily due to a fall in pharmaceutical product and petroleum product costs.
