Private sector production decreased in January 2024
Private sector production decreased by 0.6 percent in January 2024 compared with December 2023 in seasonally adjusted figures, and decreased by 1.6 percent compared with January 2023 in calendar adjusted figures.
Production value in industry increased
Production in the industry sector increased by 1.2 percent in January 2024 compared with the corresponding month last year, in calendar adjusted figures. The largest upward contribution to total private sector development came from the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, which increased by 28.3 percent in constant prices and contributed 0.8 percentage points. The largest downward contribution to total private sector development came from Metal ore mines which decreased by 20.6 percent in constant prices and contributed -0.2 percentage points.
Production value in services decreased
Production in the services sector decreased by 1.3 percent in January 2024 compared with the corresponding month last year, in calendar adjusted figures. The largest upward contribtion to total private sector development came from information and communication services, which increased 3.3 percent in constant prices and contributed 0.4 percentage points. The largest downward contribution to total private sector development came from transportation and storage indsutry, which decreased by 5.3 percent in constant prices and contributed -0.3 percentage points.
Production value in construction decreased
Production in the construction sector decreased by 5.8 percent in January 2024 compared with the corresponding month last year, in calendar adjusted figures. In this sector, production decreased by 3.9 percent in constant prices, not calendar adjusted. The construction sector, which accounts for 9.2 percent of total value added in the private sector, contributed -0.4 percentage points to the development in total private sector production.
