Slight upturn in consumer confidence in November in Belgium
Consumer confidence has been rising gradually since the summer, albeit at a moderate pace.
All components of the indicator contributed to this month’s upswing, except for household saving intentions which fell back, partially cancelling out the sharp gain recorded last month.
Consumers expressed more optimism, mainly concerning the outlook for the general economic situation in Belgium and, to a lesser extent, the expected development of the labour market.
On a personal level, households slightly upgraded their expectations for their own financial situation. However, they revised their saving intentions downwards. The downturn in this component partially cancelled out the sharp increase recorded in October.
