In August 2023, against July, prices for consumer goods and services decreased by 0.2 per cent. This was mainly influenced by a decrease in prices of electricity, vegetables, clothing, milk and milk products, cheese and eggs, passenger transport by air, footwear, as well as by an increase in prices of fuels and lubricants, catering services of restaurants, cafés and the like.
Over the month, prices for consumer goods decreased by 0.3 per cent, those for consumer services remained almost unchanged.
Prices for consumer goods and services regulated by State and municipal authorities decreased by 1.5 per cent, market prices remained almost unchanged.
In August 2023, against July, prices for transport goods and services increased by 2.3 per cent. The change was determined by an increase in prices of diesel fuel (9.5 per cent), petrol (5.8 per cent), as well as by a decrease in prices for passenger transport by sea (13.1 per cent), passenger transport by air (5.2 per cent), liquefied gas for cars (1.5 per cent).
Prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels decreased by 1.8 per cent. The largest price drop was recorded for electricity (8.5 per cent), liquefied gas for cooking (2.4 per cent), solid fuel (1.2 per cent), while price growth – products and materials for maintenance and repair of the dwelling (0.5 per cent).
Food products and non-alcoholic beverages went down in price by 0.8 per cent. The largest decrease in prices was recorded for other edible animal fats, champignon mushrooms, ice-cream, meat preserves, butter and butter products, while increase – olive oil, sauces and condiments, frozen seafood, dried vegetables, fresh and chilled seafood. Price change was also recorded for some fresh fruit and vegetables: the largest price drop was observed for carrots, onions, short cucumbers, potatoes, blueberries, while price growth – oranges, kiwi, apples, peaches, grapefruit.
Due to seasonal discounts, prices for clothing and footwear decreased by 1.7 per cent. Footwear went down in price by 2.3, clothing – 1.8 per cent.
In August 2023, annual (August 2023, against August 2022) inflation stood at 6.2 per cent. Annual inflation was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for bread and grain products, meat and meat products, cars, catering services of restaurants, cafés and the like, pharmaceuticals, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, beer, other appliances, articles and products for personal care, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery, catering services of canteens, non-durable household goods, as well as by a decrease in prices for fuels and lubricants, electricity.
Over a year, prices for consumer goods increased by 4.5 per cent, those for consumer services – 10.4 per cent.
Over a year, prices for consumer goods and services regulated by State and municipal authorities decreased by 1.2 per cent, while market prices increased by 7.4 per cent.
