According to Statistics Denmark data released on Wednesday, consumer pessimism among Danish consumers grew in August for the first time in five months, mostly as a result of a decrease in expectations for the family’s and the country’s overall future economic situation.

In August, the consumer confidence index fell from -10.1 in July to -10.9.

August consumer perceptions of the nation’s overall economic outlook for the next 12 months were still favorable, albeit they decreased to 2.4 from 4.6.

They also saw a decline in their personal financial circumstances over the next year, from 3.6 in August to 2.0 in August.

Based on the study, households anticipate a slower rate of price increases over the next 12 months, along with an increase in the unemployment rate.
