Consumer Price Index and Retail Price Index in North Macedonia, January 2023

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index in January 2023, in comparison with the previous month was 100.1, while the Retail Price Index was 99.6.
An increase in the Consumer Price Index in January 2023, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in coffee, tea and cocoa by 1.9%, fish and seafood by 1.6%, fresh or chilled fruit by 1.2%, spirits by 1.1%, meat by 0.6%, bread and cereals, food products n.e.c by 0.5% and sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.2%.
In January, there was also an increase in the indices of refuse collection by 4.6%, newspapers, books and stationery by 4.3%, electricity by 3.7%, other services n.e.c by 3.2%, major electric appliances, repair of household appliances, small tools and miscellaneous accessories by 2.3%, cleaning, repair and hire of clothing, games, tools and hobbies by 2.1%, glassware, tableware and household utensils, equipment for sport, camping and open-air recreation by 1.9%, equipment for the reception, recording and reproduction of sound and picture by 1.7%, non-durable household goods by 1.6%, veterinary and other services for pets by 1.5%, other appliances, articles and products for personal care by 1.4%, services for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling, furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings, hairdressing salons and personal grooming establishments, electric appliances for personal care by 1.3%, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment by 1.2%, restaurants, caffes and the like by 1.1%, motor cars by 1.0%, repair of furniture, furnishings and floor coverings, cultural services by 0.9%, other articles of clothing and clothing accessories, spare parts and accessories for personal transport equipment, package holidays by 0.8%, gardens, plants and flowers by 0.7%, jewellery, clocks and watches, other financial services n.e.c by 0.6%, other personal effects by 0.5%, repair and hire of footwear, major tools and equipment by 0.4%, materials for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling, liquid fuels for household, bicycles by 0.3%, actual rentals paid by tenants, gas for household, solid fuels for household by 0.2%.
A decrease in the Consumer Price index in January 2023, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fresh or chilled vegetables other than potatoes and other tubers by 10.3%, oils and fats by 3.2% and wine by 0.5%.
In January 2023, there was also a decrease of the indices of passenger transport by air by 23.4%, water supply by 4.4%, recording media by 3.0%, footwear by 2.6%, accommodation services by 1.8%, fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment by 1.1%, garments by 0.4%, small electric appliances, information processing equipment by 0.2%.
The Consumer Price Index in January 2023, in comparison with January 2022, increased by 17.1%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 13.3%.
