Due to an increase in exports, Norway’s trade surplus increased to NOK 122.4 billion in September 2022 from NOK 53.9 billion in the same month the previous year. Shipments increased 66.5% year over year to NOK 217.8 billion, driven by shipments of mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials (88.0%), food and live animals (21.7%), manufactured goods (21.6%), chemicals (22.2%), and other manufactured items (25.8%), machinery, and transport equipment (28.4%). The increase in arrivals of various manufactured goods (12.2%), manufactured goods (10.4%), chemicals and related products (19.9%), food and live animals (16.3%), crude materials, inedible, except fuels (34.8%), machinery and transport equipment (9.3%), and other manufactured goods was offset by a much more moderate 24.1% increase in imports to NOK 95.4 billion.
