According to PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who spoke at the ceremony for the unveiling of Google’s investment plans, Google’s investment in cloud services in Greece may contribute over two billion euros to the Greek GDP by 2030 and create 20,000 new well-paying jobs.

After Microsoft and Amazon made investments in Greece, Google will continue to build cutting-edge facilities and a regional cloud service hub.

Greece will become one of the few nations outside of North America where the three biggest cloud service corporations will have a local presence and infrastructure thanks to the project.

At the Stavros Niarchos Foundation event, Mitsotakis congratulated Google for establishing two centers of excellence in Thessaloniki and Patras and said that the company’s collaboration with the ministry of labor has helped 10,000 unemployed individuals improve their skill sets.

In order to improve services to citizens while simultaneously bolstering and growing the economy, Mitsotakis emphasized the government’s commitment to investing in and promoting Greece’s digital leap.

He described the quick adoption of digital technology by the government in the area of providing services to residents as having resulted in a “quiet revolution” over the past three years in Greece.

According to Mitsotakis, the government consistently places a high focus on investments in cutting-edge industries.

According to Mitsotakis, “This is a constant reform process in the digital transformation of not just major but also medium and small enterprises, such as those in tourism that employ digital marketing tools to advertise their product.”

He also said that the Recovery Fund and the NSRF will channel more than ten billion euros into all productive sectors, from the primary sector to manufacturing and services.
