The largest number of enterprises took part in the wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector
In the distribution of the number of enterprises by sectors, wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector took the lead with 304 thousand 877.
The share of the manufacturing sector in the total number of enterprises was 16.4% for 2021.
Basic indicators by economic activities, 2021
The largest asset size was in the manufacturing sector
According to the aggregated balance sheet of enterprises, in 2021, total asset size was 15 trillion 569 billion 930 million TL, total short and long term liabilities was 11 trillion 668 billion 761 million TL, while total stockholder’s equity was 3 trillion 901 billion 170 million TL.
Manufacturing sector was at the forefront among all sectors with its 4 trillion 866 billion 987 million TL asset size. The second in asset size was wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector with 3 trillion 493 billion 414 million TL. In terms of stockholder’s equity, while the manufacturing sector ranks first with 1 trillion 624 billion 254 million TL, followed by wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector with 923 billion 753 million TL, professional, scientific and technical activities with 363 billion 309 million TL, respectively.

The highest net profit was in the manufacturing sector; the highest net loss was in the transportation and storage sector
According to the aggregated income statement data of the enterprises, the aggregated financial year net profit of the total sectors in 2021 was 285 billion 297 million TL. Manufacturing sector was the sector with the highest net profit with 371 billion 85 million TL. While wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector with 121 billion 11 million TL, mining and quarrying sector with 47 billion 194 million TL were the other sectors producing net profit. The transportation and storage sector completed the year 2021 with a net loss of 107 billion 991 million TL, while the electricity, gas, stream and air conditioning supply sector completed with a net loss of 94 billion 239 million TL.

The highest export realized at manufacturing sector
According to the exports, the highest export was realized at the manufacturing sector with 1 trillion 431 billion 295 million TL. In wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector exports were 1 trillion 114 billion 446 million TL.
Companies net sales and operating profit increases in 2021
Net sales for financial year of all companies within company accounts scope was 14 trillion 733 billion 420 million TL, and total operating profit was 1 trillion 96 billion 342 million TL.
