According to figures issued by the Central Statistical Office, Hungary’s unemployment rate fell to 3.3 percent in June from 3.5 percent the previous month and 4.0 percent a year earlier (KSH). The rate applies to those who are unemployed and are between the ages of 15 and 74. There were 160,200 unemployed people in total, which is 8,300 fewer than one month prior and 33,200 fewer than in June 2021. In June, the rolling three-month average unemployment rate was 3.2 percent, down from 3.4 percent in May and 4.1 percent a year prior.
The monthly unemployment rate for people aged 15 to 64 was 3.3 percent, down from 3.5 percent the month before and 4.0 percent a year earlier. KSH adopts the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) definition of unemployment, which includes those who are unemployed, those who have actively sought employment in the last four weeks, and those who have not actively sought employment but have made plans for a job start in the next two weeks.
KSH pointed out that there were 230,000 registered job searchers at the end of June, down 13.3 percent from a year earlier, according to data from the National Employment Service (NFSZ).
4,899,700 persons in this age range were economically active, giving Hungary a 66.9 percent activity rate.
