According to a survey conducted by the Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia (GZS), more than a quarter of the companies surveyed believe that rising energy, raw material, and service prices are threatening their survival. The GZS has demanded that the state take immediate action.

According to a June survey of more than 60 companies, 80 percent of which are industrial, the biggest challenges are the need to raise product prices, lower operating profit and competitiveness, and a loss of market share.

The companies polled have purchased an average of 62 percent of their electricity needs for this year, as well as slightly more than half (52 percent) of their natural gas needs.

In the first five months of the year, the companies reported a 166 percent increase in energy costs compared to the same period last year.

During this period, the share of energy costs in sales revenue increased by 4.7 percentage points on average, with companies estimating that the increase in energy costs at the end of the year compared to 2021 will be even higher.
Users in energy-intensive industries (paper, glass, steel, aluminum, and chemical companies) noticed an increase in energy costs in sales revenue of 1.7 percentage points last year.
