Private sector production increased by 0.8 percent in May 2022 compared with April 2022 in seasonally adjusted figures, and increased by 6.0 percent compared with May 2021 in calendar adjusted figures in Sweden.

Production value in industry increased

Production in the industry sector increased by 0.2 percent in May 2022 compared with the corresponding month last year, in calendar adjusted figures. The largest upward contribution to total private sector development came from the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, which increased by 13.2 percent in fixed prices and contributed 0.4 percentage points. The largest downward contribution to total private sector development came from the motor vehicle industry, which decreased by 5.0 percent in fixed prices and contributed -0.1 percentage points.

Production value in services increased

Production in the services sector increased by 7.9 percent in May 2022 compared with the corresponding month last year, in calendar adjusted figures. The largest upward contribtion to total private sector development came from administrative, technological and support services which increased 19.6 percent in fixed prices and contributed 2.6 percentage points.

Production value in construction increased

Production in the construction sector increased by 8.7 percent in May 2022 compared with the corresponding month last year, in calendar adjusted figures. In this sector, production increased by 10.3 percent in fixed prices, not calendar adjusted. The construction sector, which accounts for 9.0 percent of total value added in the private sector, contributed 0.9 percentage points to the development in total private sector production.

The COVID-19 outbreak started to significantly impact production in March 2020, which should be taken into account when comparing annual development statistics.
