More than 3,300 British workers are putting a four-day workweek to the test as part of a global campaign to explore if it might improve economic and health outcomes.
Around 70 businesses in the United Kingdom have consented to participate in the six-month trial, which is being pushed by 4 Day Week Global and 4 Day Week U.K. Campaign. The two nonprofit organizations want to boost productivity and enhance work-life balance.
Workers will not lose pay during the six-month trial as long as they maintain the same level of performance while reducing their schedules by 20%.
The trial performed in the United Kingdom will be monitored by a number of institutions, including an American university.
According to preliminary research, it has a significant impact on stress levels, burnout, physical and mental health, general life satisfaction, and work time reduction.
