In May, business confidence in Poland rose to minus 9.6 from minus 11.5. As a result, the index remained stuck below the 0-point, indicating continued business pessimism.

The improvement in May was related to businesses becoming less gloomy about the current economic condition while becoming more pessimistic about current orderbooks and output. In terms of expectations, firms were less gloomy about future production, but orderbooks and employment forecasts were less pessimistic than the previous month. Furthermore, forecasts for the future of the global economy became less negative.
